The travelling exhibition „Art and Architecture in the Diocese of Lebus. Searching for traces in an undiscovered cultural landscape“ invites you to discover this significant artistic and architectural heritage.

The Diocese of Lebus, located on both sides of the Oder River, has experienced an eventful history over the centuries. Despite the fact that the diocese, founded in 1124/1125, ceased to exist in 1598, a surprisingly rich and diverse art-historical and architectural heritage has been preserved in the area of the former Diocese of Lebus to this day. Located between the important art centres of Greater Poland, Silesia, Saxony, Lusatia and the Mark Brandenburg, the church buildings of the Lebus region and their furnishings show a variety of influences. In addition to the impressive large buildings in Frankfurt (Oder) and Fürstenwalde, there are impressive town churches, Templar and Johanniter buildings, and numerous rural churches with unexpected treasures to discover in the area of the former Diocese of Lebus.

The exhibition was created as part of the project „900 Years of the Diocese of Lebus“. This is a sub-project of the project „Memory Connects“ (BBPL0100043) and is financed by funds from the European Union (INTERREG VI A Brandenburg-Poland 2021–2027).
