The members of the "Remembrance connects" network regularly develop projects to preserve and bring to life shared history and promote cross-border exchange.
Memory connects - discovering German-Polish history in the Oder-Warthe region
2024 - 2027: Under the leadership of the city of Seelow, the project partners are developing new tourist routes and networks on two remembrance themes of particular importance to the Oder Warthe region: "900 Years of the Bishopric of Lebus" and "Expulsion, Forced Migration and Loss of Culture 1945". The themes will deepen the cross-border educational tourism offer of the Oder-Warthe region and strengthen the network "Remembrance connects".
Remembering together - 80 years since the end of the Second World War in 2025
2024 - 2025: In German-Polish cooperation under the leadership of the town of Seelow and with the support of the PRO EUROPA VIADRINA Euroregion, a cross-border history trail has been created that depicts the route taken by the Red Army in 1945 through our region towards Berlin, including key events of the war. Commemorative events in spring 2025 along the history trail will honour the many victims.
Sites of Remembrance Oder-Warthe
2019 - 2023: With the "Sites of Remembrance Oder-Warthe" funding project, the project partners City of Seelow (lead partner), City of Kostrzyn nad Odra and Municipality of Słońsk pursued the goal of networking the unique landscape of remembrance in the Oder-Warthe region, making it visible and valorising it for tourism. The foundations for the cross-border tourism brand "Remembrance connects" have been laid.
