In a German-Polish co-operation under the leadership of the town of Seelow and with the support of the Euroregion PRO EUROPA VIADRINA, a cross-border project has been developed. History trail "Events of the war in 1945" which depicts the Red Army's route through our region towards Berlin in 1945 at six stations.

The project aims to raise awareness of the shared culture and history and to improve the cross-border usability and accessibility of existing cultural and tourist attractions.

In the project, the educational tourism potential of regional memorials to significant war events in 1945 is networked and marketed nationally and internationally. Partners such as the Liberation Route Europe (certified cultural route of the Council of Europe on the liberation of 1944-45) as well as multilingual print and audio information enable a wide reach of the project results. For example, the cross-border history trail "War Events 1945" will be presented to an international audience of experts and specialised tour operators at the annual forum of the Liberation Route Europe in Krakow (PL).

Commemorative events in spring 2025, to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, will honour the many victims along the history trail.
