The members of the "Remembrance connects" network regularly develop projects to preserve and bring to life shared history and promote cross-border exchange.
Living places of remembrance
2026 - 2028: Under the leadership of the municipality of Międzyrzecz (PL), the project partners are developing new educational tourism programmes on the history of the Nazi murders and traces of Jewish life. In cross-border cooperation, the project partners are revitalising or re-establishing nationally significant places of remembrance, equipping them with digital exhibitions and linking them thematically with each other.
Cultural land traces Lebus
2025 - 2028: Under the leadership of the municipality of Słońsk (PL), the project partners are developing new tourist routes and networks on the history of the cultural landscape in the Oder-Warthe region. New participatory offers and interactive information points convey how people have shaped and used the Oder-Warthe region over the centuries and which farming methods, products and traditions have emerged from this that can still be found on both sides of the border today.
Active Remembrance Youth Programme Workshop
2025: The Active Remembrance Youth Programme (ARYP) comprises nine different youth exchange events throughout Europe. Young Europeans are to explore and commemorate the Second World War from different perspectives. In October 2025, a youth exchange week took place along the „1945 War Events“ history trail in the Oder-Warthe region.
Remembrance connects - discovering German-Polish history in the Oder-Warta region
2024 - 2027: Under the leadership of the town of Seelow, the project partners are developing new tourist routes and networks on two commemorative themes of particular importance to the Oder Warta region: "900 years of the diocese of Lebus" and "Expulsion, forced migration and loss of culture in 1945". The topics deepen the cross-border educational tourism offer of the Oder-Warthe region and strengthen the network Memory Connects.
Remembering together - 80 years since the end of the Second World War in 2025
2024 - 2025: In German-Polish cooperation under the leadership of the town of Seelow and with the support of the PRO EUROPA VIADRINA Euroregion, a cross-border history trail has been created that depicts the route taken by the Red Army in 1945 through our region towards Berlin, including key events of the war. Commemorative events in spring 2025 along the history trail will honour the many victims.
Places of Remembrance Oder-Warthe
2019 - 2023: With the "Places of Remembrance Oder-Warta" funding project, the project partners City of Seelow (lead partner), City of Kostrzyn nad Odra and Municipality of Słońsk pursued the goal of networking the unique landscape of remembrance in the Oder-Warta region, making it visible and valorising it for tourism. The foundations for the cross-border tourism brand "Remembrance connects" have been laid.
